NEW DELHI: A sticky bomb exploded in a Shiite neighborhood in Kabul, Afghanistan, on Saturday, resulting in the death of one person and injuring three others, a police official said.
The bomb was affixed to a car, leading to the fatality of the driver. The spokesman for the Kabul police chief, Khalid Zadran, did not specify whether the wounded individuals were passengers.
Authorities have reached the site for further investigation, situated in the vibrant commercial and residential zone of Kot-e-Sangi.
While no group has claimed responsibility yet, suspicions point towards the Islamic State group. This group has a history of targeting Shiites and Taliban members, considering them apostates.
Just last month, the Islamic State claimed a suicide attack at a bank in southern Afghanistan, aimed at individuals queuing to collect their pay. According to IS, the attacker triggered his explosive belt amidst a group of Taliban members assembled near the bank to receive their wages.
